National Hmong Grave Desecration Committee (NHGDC) has set up a fund to help the victim’s families. The fund will focus primarily on the reburial of the 691 bodies to ensure International community-wide healing. Questions can be directed to 1-509-869-5660 or by email to info@nhgdc.org or go to www.nhgdc.org.
NHGDC has established volunteer committees of local community leaders and agencies through-out the U.S. and other countries to develop strategies to address the long term solution of this in-humane act. Vang Xiong, Chair of NHGDC and the National Executive Committee, states, “The resilient network of NHGDC partners continues to strengthen communities and improve lives. We are dedicated to help rebuild the lives and communities of people who have suffer so much in this tragedy. We invite you to work with us until every spirit of the exhumed victims has put to rest and bring peace and justice to the families and the Hmong community”
This Fund represents a collaboration of several Hmong Communities across the U.S. including: Other ethnicities and communities who want to see this grave digging end not only for the Hmong community, but others around the world as well.
Another crucial role of NHGDC is to be the first ethnic group to add a chapter in the United Nations Human Rights Council Rapporteur to end this grave digging around the world. It is also to ensure that if a grave needs to be removed for any reason, a notification must be sent to the family. NHGDC is planning to implement a central communication website for a proper notification as well as for family who need help or for those who want to offer help. As the world watch the shocking grave digging at Tham krabok Monastery, Thailand in 2005; this sensitive subject has demonstrated its powerful role. People in the U.S. and other countries are getting connected with NHGDC to get the information they need, such as finding answers to their questions and ways to resolve the problems.
Community partnerships will be critical to the long term recovery efforts. Within these efforts, the initial response to any future grave digging or any related subjects is led by the NHGDC while working with the community leaders and agencies to take the lead in long term recovery.
